The National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) Act provides for the regulation and maintenance of standards of education and services by Allied and Healthcare professionals, assessment and recognition of institutions, maintenance of the Central Register and State Registers, and the creation of systems to improve access, research and development, and adoption of the latest scientific advancements and related matters. The Act covers 57 Allied and Healthcare Professions categorized under 10 broad recognized categories.
In accordance with the provisions of the NCAHP Act, 2021, the Kerala State Allied and Healthcare Council (KESAHC) has been constituted in September 2022 to regulate, register, and promote excellence in Allied and Healthcare professions within the State of Kerala. The Council is responsible for maintaining the State Register, ensuring compliance with prescribed standards, facilitating ethical professional practice, and supporting the development of quality Allied and Healthcare services for the people of Kerala.
The Council plays a pivotal role in:
- Registration and regulation of Allied and Healthcare Professionals
- Maintenance and periodic updating of the State Register
- Oversight and monitoring of educational institutions
- Promotion of ethical standards and professional conduct
- Supporting continuing professional development and skill enhancement
Through structured regulatory frameworks and quality assurance systems, KESAHC contributes to strengthening Kerala’s healthcare delivery system by fostering a competent, responsible, and future-ready allied and healthcare workforce.
